The term institutions refers to universities, university colleges, high schools, libraries, and others that wish to be, or already are, connected to the WAYF identity federation.

An institution connected to WAYF can offer its students and employees a WAYF log-in which connects the institution's log-in system with services from service providers. In this way WAYF makes it possible to use one single log-in to access a wide range of services.
